The BACCI PERUGINA project

Baci Perugina is an Italian brand of chocolates that carry within them a message of love (poetry). In fact, Baci means kiss: the kiss of Perugina, and its development is tied to a beautiful love story (www.baciperugina.com).Bacci Perugina is a set of ceramic pieces which contain inside a poem, a beautiful, simple and encouraging message. Each piece is unique, but they all have a common bond: they allow us to think about different philosophy questions that interest us as a powerful creative force. We call them the Bacci's commandments. The 10 Bacci's commandments are:
1. The idea of sacrifice as a milestone in the pursuit of a more noble purpose. This is an idea that is repeated since immemorial time and that has interested the majority of religions: the sacrifice leads us to the idea of improvement. In this case the sacrifice is materialized in the fact that the piece reaches its zenith when it is broken into small pieces.
2. The idea of temptation implicitly associated with the idea of sin, so deeply internalized in our culture through religion. Without temptation there is nothing, there is no life, and without life there is only death.
3. The idea of contradiction, the basis of scientific method and pillar of Western civilization:
• The one who knows how to live its contradictions is powerful.
• To improve we must admit the possibility of worsening.
• Only in front of the contradiction we can discover our limits. The contradiction here is that the possessor of the piece has to choose between using it completely, breaking it up andreading the poem, or preserve the beauty as a bird in cage. Regardless of the election the contradiction is a logical result of this work. From this point of view we can say that the reality of the piece is tension.
4. The idea of frustration intimately linked to that of contradiction and the feeling of guilt. From this point of view, this ceramic piece is an effective treatment against psychopathies.
5. The idea of a beautiful, decent, wrapping, valid on its own without any additional step in its evolution. This piece is conceived as an ending point of a point-in-line, creating a feeling of recursion: the beauty that accommodates the beauty, the simplicity that extends to simplicity and finally just feeds back the feelings of sacrifice-temptation-contradiction- tension-frustration.
6. The idea of motherhood-embryo, the emergence of the inevitable, the strength of the spring, the first-truth, the only truth: the tempus fugit.
7. The idea of surprise, a return to childhood, the piggy bank, the Treasure Island, the Easter egg, Kinder surprise, Aladdin and the wonderful Lamp, etc ...
8. The broken curse, the placebo effect, the autosuggestion, the feeling of internal comfort, that we have reversed a certain state of facts.
9. The cycle of matter, life and energy, the conservation laws: the matter that is environmentally converted back into atoms, the cohesion energy that suddenly turns into burst energy, and then everything starts all over again in harmony.
10. The idea of fungible, so fashionable nowadays. Ceramic art can not escape from this concept if we want that as pottery marked the origin of our civilization, it will also check its decline. This piece matches with the actual way of life:breaking it only means that the piece has reached an earlier maturity. Each piece comes along with an instruction manual, a Bacci’s hammer, which may or may not be used, and a box to collect the remains once the piece has fulfilled its mission.
